The year 2023 brings a special occasion for cricket lovers across Asia – the Asia Cup. This cricket tournament is like a big family gathering where countries like India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan come together to play matches and have fun.

The opening game of the 16th edition of the Asia Cup 2023, the country’s major cricket competition, will be played on Wednesday, August 30 between Pakistan and Nepal. The 50over format will be used for the whole competition. The cricket spectacular has six teams in all: India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.

Why will Sri Lanka and Pakistan host the 2023 Asia Cup?

The Asia Cup is being hosted this year by Pakistan. The Indian cricket squad, however, refused to visit Pakistan due to safety concerns. As a result, Sri Lanka was selected as the nation to co-host the matches with Pakistan. Therefore Sri Lanka will host India’s Asia Cup matches.


There are two groups of three teams each made up of the six teams. There are two groups:
